Chris Kelly

Founder · Play-by-Play · Host, The Sports Huddle

Asheville native with extensive play-by-play experience in high school and college athletics. Chris has worked across various broadcasting formats and credits influential mentors including Bob Fulton (South Carolina Gamecocks), Gary Hahn (NC State), Wes Durham (Atlanta Falcons / ACC Network), David Steele (Orlando Magic), and Stan Pamfilis (WLOS TV News 13). His college play-by-play work has included USC Spartanburg, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Western Carolina, and Mars Hill. He calls high school games across North Carolina and South Carolina. Chris founded Carolinasportsnut.com in May 2011 and launched his first sports talk show on 970 WWIT Canton in 1995.

Terry Shinn

Over 56 years in broadcasting, starting in 1969 with Madison HS basketball and Hanover College sports in Indiana. Moved to North Carolina for UNCA basketball coverage, then focused on Western NC high school basketball and football. Served as the voice of Pisgah HS basketball for 24+ seasons on WPTL radio and handled Madison HS football and basketball play-by-play for WHBK. Known for exceptional radio engineering expertise throughout the Southeast.

Color commentator during 2018–2019 for softball, baseball, and football, plus play-by-play for baseball and prep basketball. Previously worked with AM 920 and 101.7 FM WPTL Canton. Currently Morning News Anchor at AM 550 / 92.1 Newstalk WSVA in Harrisonburg, VA, with high school play-by-play and JMU Sports Network work. Madison County native who appears on The Sports Huddle with Chris Kelly.

Works independently as photographer and videographer for MotoAmerica and NCAA projects through Matty Media. Contributes to 103.7 WPVM as politics forum moderator and live event streamer.
